Found Substrates
There’s something special about painting on a surface that’s already lived a life. These works are made on timber and objects found in Central Otago—salvaged from old cottages, sheds, and forgotten corners.
Each piece holds its own quiet story: a nail hole, a weathered edge, a patch of rust. I don’t cover those up—I paint with them, around them, through them. I want to connect past and present and see the beauty of these old objects in a new (and sometimes amusing) way.
